My name is Dave Haddock and I am the face behind ‘The Town Of My Life’. I live in Selby with my wife and numerous animals, and have lived in the town for most of my life.
I’ve always enjoyed writing, and I recently achieved a BA Honours English Language and English Literature degree from the Open University which was a very proud moment. I’ve self published a children’s picture book series, ‘The Monster who liked to eat toes!’ and am currently in the middle of a number of other writing projects.
This blog was both a way for me to gain more experience writing for an audience, and also to allow me to talk about all the things I love when it comes to Selby Town FC. Selby has a long and rich history; from the magnificent Abbey in its centre, to the mining community that helped create and shape the town into what it is today. I hope this blog – through discussing and looking at the football club and its achievements – can help to give the reader a glimpse into the past and how the town has evolved over the years. In many ways it is as much a history project as it is a celebration of non league football, and I can’t wait to get started.
Please do get in touch with any comments or if you’re interested in writing for the blog – the more the merrier!
